The entitlement of the State of Israel

According to Flavius Josephus, in the year 70 AD there were seven million Jews in Israel and according to Dio Cassius, at least three million in 135 AD. This tells us a very different picture than the vision that over a period of 1800 years, Jews hardly lived in the Holy Land. Nothing could be further from the truth because over a period of 3700 years there were continuously living Jews in the historic country until today.
In 1696 the Dutchman Reland gives scientific report of his journey through the country. His conclusions:

  1. All place names have a Jewish, Greek or Roman origin (This is still the case, with the only exception of the Arab Ramallah).
  2. Of an Arab culture reflection, for example the architecture, is no question.
  3. The country is sparsely populated. There are hardly any Arabs. That are mainly Bedouin, who come to work as seasonal workers.

Examples: 5,000 people are living in Jerusalem, mostly Jews and some Christians. In Gaza are living 550 people, about half of them are Jews, the rest mostly Christians. The Jews are especially concerned with agriculture, the Christians with trade and transportation.

Particularly strong Jewish claim to the land:

  1. The Jewish claim is exceedingly strong:
  2. Over more than three thousand years, members of the Jewish people resides there. This is unique, no other nation can say that.
  3. International legitimized by a decision of the international community, twice in 1922 and 1947. This is unique.
  4. Taking into development. During the Arab domination, the country had completely fallen into swamps on one hand and, on the other hand barren land. The Jews have laid dry the swamps, forests are planted and fields developed.
  5. The Arab time has hardly lasting traces. So the place names are of Jewish, Greek or Roman origin and of any reflection of an Arab culture is out of the question.
  6. Derived from the colonial era, in defensive war.
The first is true for many countries, however the second is not, many other countries are established through offensive wars.
  7. Free access for other religions to their holy places. This was and is not always possible during Muslim domination.
  8. Self purchased. The Jews have bought ownership virtually all private land.

Trans-Jordan. In 1922, the Balfour Declaration about the English mandate over Palestine was accepted by the League of Nations. Palestine was so unanimously by the world community formally legally declared to a future Jewish State: "on the basis of the historical connection of the Jewish people".
This has never been revoked and therefore is still valid. The League of Nations, although no longer exists, but article 80 of the Charter of the United Nations states that the then existing mandates of the League of Nations legally remain valid.
This right of the Jewish people to a State in what is now Israel, Jordan, the Golan Heights and the disputed areas, therefore are internationally recorded long before the World War II.
This, moreover, with the agreement of the Arab countries, which got their own countries from the remains of the Ottoman Empire.

In the mandate is recognized that although not (yet) the entire Jewish people live there, therefore that article 6 of the Mandate States is included that Jewish immigration needs to be promoted.
In 1947 the second offer: The UN partition plan, resolution 181 in 1947. A Commission proposed a new division which was adopted by the UN General Assembly. It encountered opposition from Arab side because they felt they were not rewarded for their majority to inhabitants. Different countries and committees reviewed the problem. The Jews accepted the partition plan but the Arabs rejected it. In 1947, the population of Western Palestine consisted of 600,000 Jews and 1.2 million Muslims and Christians.

Borders of Israel

The State of Israel with the current borders (including the so-called occupied territories), are still NOT the borders of Israel at the time of Jesus. The "occupied areas" were and are the property of Israel and the area belong to in the time of Jesus.
Only the Gaza, one can assign to the Palestines, the Palestinians have NO more rights. With their attacks, they deny their agreement in 1922. It is clearly the fault of the UN that the Palestinian problem and violence exist. The UN has violated the original boundaries of Israel in 1947.
In the future, the promised land of Israel will be restored by the Lord GOD Himself, which is much larger than the current Israel, namely from the Euphrates River (the river has a length of 2735 kilometers. The river begins in North-East Turkey and flows through Syria to Iraq) to the River Nile.
So it is not surprising that the Egyptians (and Israelis) saw angels (and great people) fighting during the six-day war.

Is the current state of Israel by God?

Very definitely. Despite all the attacks of the Arab countries, yes even on the Sabbath, they have lost. Many are the testimonies of the soldiers who have seen angels fighting for the Israelites and for who they have to flee. Further proof is that the current state is set up by God. A proof of this comes from Ezekiel 36 and 37. The current Israel is the fulfillment of Ezekiel 37:7-10.
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold, a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to its bone. 8 And as I looked, there were sinews on them, and flesh had come upon them, and skin had covered them; but there was no breath in them. 9 Then he said to me, "Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, Thus says the Lord GOD: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live." 10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great host.
Ezekiel 37:8 BUT THERE WAS NO SPIRIT IN, is also a fulfillment. The population in Israel is doing "everything in own strength". There is still no true worship of the Lord (JHWH or JHVH comes from the Hebrew letter combination יהוה jod-hee-vav-hee and is in the Hebrew Bible the name of God). Verses 12-14 shall be fulfilled at the second coming of Jesus Christ (Matthew 24:30), then Ezekiel 36 will be fulfilled.

What does the 70 YEAR Israel mean for the Christian?

A lot. Matthew 24:32-34
From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates. 34 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away till all these things take place.

This generation shall not pass away. This genus is pointing to the current generation of Jews who live in Israel. On 14 May 1948 was the independence of the new Jewish State of Israel proclaimed. So this year, the 70 years is that this genus. Psalms 90:10 says "The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years". The days of our lives are one generation. The seventy years are completed. But the Jews are a strong people, witness the survival of the concentration camps and the wars by the Arabs and Palestinians. So the days of our lives/generation can be eighty years. For the Christian, however, it means that the first Coming of Christ may occur any time from now on, Matthew 24:36-44:
36 But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. 37 As were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of man. 38 For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, 39 and they did not know until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of man. 40 Then two men will be in the field; one is taken and one is left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill; one is taken and one is left. 42 Watch therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the householder had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 Therefore you also must be ready; for the Son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

Starting from verse 34 and eighty years, and verses 4-29 which talk about the 7 years of Great Tribulation, we count with 80-7 years is 73 years after the proclamation of the State of Israel. Because first the Great Tribulation need to pass before the second Coming of Christ in verse 30. But verse 36 clearly says that day and that hour ONE DOES NOT KNOW. We do not know when the Great Tribulation starts, but verse 32 is clear LEARN, the current signs are obvious, the beginning of the Great Tribulation is near.
Verses 40-42 is another warning for the Christian. Only half (?, see Matthew 25:1-13 five wise (the half) and five foolish maidens) take part in the wedding in the marriage feast. That means that half of the Christians (who are not living under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, but in the world) will pass through the Great Tribulation? And there their faith in Jesus Christ will be tested.
Verses 40-42 are clarified in 1 Corinthians 15:50-52 and 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17: the first Coming of Christ, which will soon come to pass. The dead Christians (who have fallen asleep), who currently live in paradise, will be raised first and will ascend in the clouds and encounter Jesus Christ in the sky, thereafter the living Christians (who are living under control and full of the Holy Spirit) will leave the earth and encounter Jesus Christ in the clouds, and all will go to Heaven.
During this arising, the mortal sinful and perishable body of the Christian changes in a twinkling of an eye into an immortal sinless and imperishable body. Why? Because no sinful body can enter Heaven (flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God) and one will be given eternal life. A life without death, without end!
