What is Character/Personality?

Personality

Character/Personality is the set of psychological characteristics that determine the patterns of thinking, feeling and acting, that is, the personal and social individuality of someone. Personality formation is a gradual, complex and unique process for each individual.

What does the Bible say about Personality?

Both character and personality, as they are an inherent part of being, do not appear as separate words in the Biblical text, both in the original Hebrew of the OT and in the Greek of the NT.
Thus, it must be seen in an implied way when the character and personality traits are mentioned in the Bible.
For example; in Proverbs 16:27-29, where it reads:
27 A worthless man plots evil, and his speech is like a scorching fire.
28 A perverse man spreads strife, and a whisperer separates close friends.
29 A man of violence entices his neighbor and leads him in a way that is not good.
We can read as:
27 The man of vile character raises evil….
28 The man of wicked character spreads strife…
29 The man of violent character entices his neighbor…

In Isaiah 32:7, where it reads:
7 The knaveries of the knave are evil; he devises wicked devices to ruin the poor with lying words, even when the plea of the needy is right.
We can read as:
7 Also the machinations of the man of a fraudulent character are bad…

In Philippians 2:22, where we read:
22 But Timothy's worth you know, how as a son with a father he has served with me in the gospel.
We can read as:
22 But you know what proofs he gave of his character…

In 2 Timothy 2:15, where we read:
15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
We can read as:
15 Try to present yourself before God with an approved character…
We thus see that both vicious and virtuous traits can compose a person's character, and the more pure and good the character is, the greater the number of virtues that one has, and a behavior that is consistent with those virtues.
Therefore, it is not enough to believe in a value system and approve it, because character is not determined only by what is believed and approved, but above all by the practice of our beliefs, our personality being shaped and defined by them.

The beatitude, as we can see in Jesus' words in the Sermon on the Mount, does not depend on the circumstances of a person's life, but on the character traits as they are highlighted by him especially at the beginning of the fifth chapter of the gospel of Matthew.
This character is defined as an internal state of being.
This Christian character must be formed in the very structure of the moral nature.
