What are demons and fallen angels?

Demon

According to the dictionary: RELIGION evil spirit that, according to Christian doctrine, seeks to attract humanity to evil; Devil; satan

Origin of the devil?

The Bible says that God created a powerful, intelligent and beautiful spirit that was the leader among all angels. He was called Lucifer (meaning ‘He who Shines’) - and he was very good. But Lucifer also had a will with which he could choose freely. A passage from Isaiah 14 records the choice he made.

King of Babylon, bright morning star, you fell from heaven! You, who dominated the nations, were knocked to the ground!

You used to think like this: "I will go up to heaven and sit on my throne, above the stars of God. I will reign over there, in the north, on the mountain where the gods meet."

Isaías 14:12-14

How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low! You said in your heart, 'I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will make myself like the Most High [=God].

Lucifer, like Adam, had a decision to make. He could accept that God was God or he could decide to choose that he would be the god for himself. The repeated times that he said "I will be" show that he chose to challenge God and declare to himself the 'Most High'. A passage in Ezekiel shows a parallel record of the fall of Lucifer:

Ezekiel 28:13-17

You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, carnelian, topaz, and jasper, chrysolite, beryl, and onyx, sapphire, carbuncle, and emerald; and wrought in gold were your settings and your engravings. On the day that you were created they were prepared. With an anointed guardian cherub I placed you; you were on the holy mountain of God; in the midst of the stones of fire you walked. You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created, till iniquity was found in you. In the abundance of your trade you were filled with violence, and you sinned; so I cast you as a profane thing from the mountain of God, and the guardian cherub drove you out from the midst of the stones of fire. Your heart was proud because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. I cast you to the ground; I exposed you before kings, to feast their eyes on you.

Lucifer's beauty, wisdom and power - all the good things created in him by God - led him to pride. His pride led him to rebellion, but he never lost any of his powers or abilities. Now he is leading a cosmic revolt against his Creator to see who God will be. His strategy is to enlist humanity to join him - in tempting humanity to make the same choice he did - to love themselves, to become independent of God and to challenge God. His peak will be in the Great Tribulation, in which Satan will deceive and drag many people into his fall.

What is the devil doing today?

According to the Bible, God did not create a 'bad devil', but did create a powerful and intelligent angelic being. Through pride, he led a revolt against God - and in doing so, he became corrupted while still maintaining his original splendor. You, me and all of humanity have become part of the battlefield of this battle between God and his ‘adversary’ (the devil). The devil's strategy is not to walk around in black coats like the ‘Black Riders’ in the Lord of the Rings, who curse people. Instead, he seeks to deceive us of the redemption that God promised at the beginning of time, through Abraham, through Moses, and then accomplished in Jesus' death and resurrection.
As the Bible says:

2 Corinthians 11:14-15

And no wonder, for even satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is not strange if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

Because satan and his angels can disguise themselves as 'light', we are more easily deceived. Perhaps that is why the Gospel is always on the opposite side of our instincts and against all cultures.

They have no power to create (animals, humans). In the church of satan they make pregnant women to sacrifice babies. They want to imitate God, but they do not have that power to create life. So they would like to destroy God's creation. Everything is for evil. Giving the human intelligence. The Covid-19 virus was developed in the laboratory, which killed and made millions of people sick and dead. In the laboratory, the DNA of humans is tested on animals. Some Covid-19 vaccines are made from parts of aborted fetuses. The Covid-19 vaccine might change the DNA and possibly the growths of foul and evil sores, Revelation 16:2.

What other names does the devil have?

- Devil (Greek διάβολος): slanderer or accuser
- Lucifer (morning star) Isaiah 14:12
- Destroyer: which in Hebrew is Abadom and in Greek is Apoliom, Revelation 9:11
- Belial: meaningless useless 2 Corinthians 6:15

Who are the fallen angels?

The Bible says that fallen angels exist but does not speak their names. The only fallen angel named in the Bible is satan. The other fallen angels are the servants of the devil, who have rejected God. Revelation 12:3-4 speaks about a third of the angels?
Angels, like humans, have a free will: they can make choices. Led by the devil, some angels decided to sin and therefore were expelled from the presence of God. These are the fallen angels.
The Bible says that God arrested some angels who sinned (Genesis 6:1-4 the sons of God). Now they wait for the Last Judgment, when they will be condemned to destruction, together with the devil (Matthew 25:41; 2 Peter 2:4; Jude 1:6, Revelation 19:19-20). We cannot be sure, but if the fallen angels are demons, then they still have an influence on the earth.

Angels are spirits created by God. They praise and serve God and help the saints (Hebrews 1:14).

The Bible warns us not to fall into the sin of worshiping angels (also Gods angels, not fallen) (Colossians 2:18).

Genesis 6: 1-4 The fallen angels (sons of God) saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they took women of all those they chose. Of those children (nephilim) were born. And God keeps these fallen angels ahead of time (Judas 1:6).

The final destination of satan and the fallen angels

The apostle Peter says that God did not forgive the angels who sinned, and by the way they are now bound to the chains of eternal darkness. Therefore, fallen angels are under the judgment of God and will receive all divine punishment for their sin on the great day of judgment (2 Peter 2:4; cf. Judas 1:6).

Satan's destiny is first the abyss (Revelation 20:1-3) for a thousand years and then it will be leaped for a short time (Rev 20:7). His final destination is the lake of fire and sulfur and by day and by night he and the fallen angels will be plagued for centuries.
The fate of the fallen angels after the Great Tribulation is the lake of fire, along with all the followers of satan, all who worshiped the beast and its image and bear the mark 666 (verse 4).

Text about satan and the fallen angels in the Bible

Revelation 20:1-4, 7-8,10 e 14-15

1 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain. 2 And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, 3 and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years were ended. After that he must be loosed for a little while. 4 Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom judgment was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony to Jesus and for the word of God, and who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life, and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
7 And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be loosed from his prison 8 and will come out to deceive the nations which are at the four corners of the earth, that is, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea.
10 and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulphur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire; 15 and if any one's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Revelation 12:3-4, 7-9

3 And another portent appeared in heaven; behold, a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems upon his heads. 4 His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to bear a child, that he might devour her child when she brought it forth.
7 Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, 8 but they were defeated and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world--he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

Job 1:6-12

Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them. The LORD said to Satan, "Whence have you come?" Satan answered the LORD, "From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it." And the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?" Then Satan answered the LORD, "Does Job fear God for nought? Hast thou not put a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? Thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But put forth thy hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will curse thee to thy face." And the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your power; only upon himself do not put forth your hand." So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

Zechariah 3:1

Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him.

Mateus 4:8-11

Matthew 16:23

But he turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me; for you are not on the side of God, but of men."

Luke 10:17-20

The seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!" And he said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you; but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."

Romans 16:20

Then the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

2 Corinthians 2:10-11

Any one whom you forgive, I also forgive. What I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for your sake in the presence of Christ, to keep Satan from gaining the advantage over us; for we are not ignorant of his designs.

2 Corinthians 11:14-15

And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is not strange if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

Ephesians 6:11-16

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace; besides all these, taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one.

James 4:7

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

1 Peter 5:8

Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking some one to devour.

1 John 3:8

He who commits sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.
